"Everybody's Grandfather And the 12 Steps of Life", is the first offering by the SPP Team.
The SpiritualPreneur™ Team (SPP) is an organization of business and creative people joined together to create profitable, responsible, products, businesses, and services that enrich and empower people’s lives in an extraordinary way.
The founders of the venture combine more than 30 years of experience in production, financing and distribution of innovative products. The management of SPP is targeting a total combined population of approximately 25 million Americans in recovery, as well as the mainstream personal growth market.
The owner and originator of the SpiritualPreneur™ Team is James Budd, The award-winning Creative Director of Rosebudd Productions, a 20-year-old Native American owned Communications Company located in Chicago. Mr. Budd has filmed everyone from The President of the United States to Dr. Wayne Dyer. The first planned project to be launched By the SpiritualPreneur Team is the 56 minutes documentary about America’s 98 year old spiritual giant entitled “Everybody’s Grandfather and the 12 Steps of Life”. The overall popularity of the documentary genre is at the all time high. With the stunning recent box-office success of Fahrenheit 911, Supersize Me, and March of the Penguins and the built in 25 million 12 step members our documentary should be met with brisk active market demand.
“Everybody’s Grandfather” is set around the life of and is narrated by James Houck. James is one of America’s great champions of peace, and the last living link to Bill Wilson, one of the founders of the 12 steps of Alcoholics Anonymous. It is estimated that 10% of America (25 million) belong to one 12-step group or another. In addition, it is estimated that there are approximately 218 distinct and different types of 12-step groups in 130 countries in the world. In fact, in a 1999 article by Time magazine Bill Wilson was called one of the 100 most important men that ever lived.
There is almost no up to date information available on film on the beginnings of the 12-step movement. This has created a huge demand for information from those whose lives have been transformed by the movement, and Jim Houck is the oldest living eyewitness to the period of time when the 12 steps was born.
He is the last living link to the founder of AA and he is the man with the most sobriety on earth. Words of wisdom, experience, strength, and hope from Jim will be of great interest to 25 million 12-step members.
But the “10% of America” that belongs to the twelve steps organization aren’t the only audience who will be intrigued by this film. Besides the personal growth market and history buffs, there is also The Oxford group of which Jim is one of the oldest living members. In addition, the International Rotary Club has just presented the 99 year-old Mr. Houck with the Service-Above-Self award out of 1,200,000 worldwide members. All these organizations make up a very large potential market, as Mr. Houck was a key influence in these life-changing, international organizations as well.
To quote from “Everybody’s Grandfather”
“Listening to James Houck describe his life is like being a stowaway on a time machine. He was six years old when the Titanic sank. He helped the Edison Company install electricity for the first time throughout New England. During the next nine decades, he lived his life to the fullest in intimate contact with the movers and shakers of the past century: captains of industry like Edison, Ford and Firestone; spiritual leaders like Frank Buchman, founder of the Oxford Group; and Bill Wilson, founder of the twelve steps”. In the 40’s Mr. Houck helped with the restitution of Germany and France after the WWII. In the 60’s he was involved with the civil rights movement in America. In the 70’s he was part of a peace delegation between England and Ireland during the terrorist bombings. And in this documentary he is sharing the wisdom, humor and profundity of what he distilled over the last 10 decades of living on this planet, with all who view this extraordinary film.
But were after bigger game here: telling a bigger story, in a better way, to a bigger market. Although Jim Houck will act as the narrator and a bridge for the story of the historical inception of the 12 steps to the present day, (ending with footage from the 70th anniversary in July of 2005), a larger storyline will be going on at the same time.
But instead of telling about the 12 steps - we are going to show you.
Dramatically interspersed between Jims commentary will be vivid present-day testimonials from real people on how the 12 steps has impacted their lives. Raw, anonymous testimonials of real people from AA, OA, DA, CODA, etc. –from all walks of life, male and female, homeless to billionaire. These courageous, authentic leads will be heartbreaking, heartfelt, eye-opening, inspiring and possibly life changing to our viewers. They will be more dramatic and moving and inspiring than any reality show you have ever seen. . And they will shatter forever the public belief that 12 steps is only for hopeless alcoholics or drug addicts. This film will raise the bottom by presenting a fresh viewpoint- an invitation to see how the 12 steps is simply a way of life - A set of superb, hard fought, non-denominational Spiritual tools to personal fulfillment and awareness. It is the 12 steps of learning to love yourself. The 12 steps of how to find daily serenity - even in these troubled times. It is The 12 steps of Life.
