He was a peace keeper helping with the restitution between Germany and France after World War II .  He worked in the civil rights movement in the 60's.  He was part of  a peace delegation between the IRA and the British during the terrorist bombings in the 70's.  He worked with civil rights leaders, Martin Luther King Jr., and Mary McLeod Bethune. He is the recipient of the  Service Above Self Award out of 1,200,000 members from the Rotary Club.  He was recently featured in TIME magazine as a shining example of living recovery. He truly is "Everybody's Grandfather", and he guides us throughout the film.
